This week,
the students had the opportunity to look down the lens of a microscope to
answer the question: How do leaves lose water? Not only did they view a
beautiful pattern of the underside of the leaf, but they also identified the
stomata which, according to one student, ‘looked like lips’. The students
concluded that when these ‘lips’ are open, the plant loses water. The next
question will be: Why do the stomata open and close?
Olivia's precise and accurate scientific drawing demonstrated that she was able to recognise the importance of 'noticing' in Science and use this muscle effectively.
