Dear parents,
Earlier in the year, Year
5 heard from Charlie and Gracie who, together with their parents, spent time volunteering
at the Happy Days Cambodian Village School in the Semester 1 school
holiday break. We were all blown away by how little the children had in terms
of health care, material possessions and infrastructure and have wanted to do
something practical to help.
As you are aware, Year 5 have been undertaking the SEAT project – a program where
students learn about sustainability, collaboration and their potential to make
a difference in the world. As a means of raising funds, we are auctioning our seats online so that
we can put the proceeds towards purchasing some mosquito nets. In his
presentation to the class, Charlie shared that coming into the wet season,
there is a great risk of dengue fever and malaria outbreaks in Cambodia. Providing school students and their families with some mosquito nets would be a small gesture that would be of significant
assistance.
