Volume displacement and the cubic meter
Today in Maths, Year 5 students investigated the Archimedes principle of volume displacement. We remembered the picture book 'Mr Archimedes' bath', By Pamela Allen and discovered the relationship between volume and capacity through volume displacement.
Year 5's then collaborated to construct a cubic meter. They calculated the surface area and capacity of 1m3. We now know that the capacity is 1000 liters.
